Paranoia

The Synopsis of Psychiatry defines paranoia as “extreme suspiciousness, usually not based on a realistic assessment of the situation…[including] a perceived community of plotters.” Some paranoids suffer from delusions of grandeur: the conspirators are after him because he is so special. We see paranoia frequently, but may not recognize it or realize how crazy it is.

(I realize that this is probably much more fascinating to me than you.)
