iPad for the non-computer user
I think the iPad will be great for people who can’t seem to grasp computers. Think about your grandparents, your parents, or maybe that person who keeps on getting viruses on their PC. The iPad does the things they want to do, but without the need of knowing how to make the darn thing work when it becomes broken. I suppose you could argue that they need a computer to sync it and manage...

5 Reasons The Poor Stay Poor
Full Article Found on Reversed Magazine. 1. Don’t enroll in 401k work programs. Poor person’s mentality: I don’t have the money to do it. I need every penny of my paycheck 2. Don’t have a savings account, worse yet, don’t even have a bank account. Poor person’s mentality: I don’t have any money to save. These pennies aren’t nothing to save, so I’m not going to even bother. The bank just steals...

Internet Explorer 8
Internet Explorer 8 has got to be one of the most bloated programs people use the most. It’s bloated and slow to install, and it’s bloated slow to run. Firefox is so much better.

Speaking Of Banks...
Almost two months ago my wife and I applied for a joint checking account with Bank of America. We both already have accounts, and she’s already changed her name, so we thought this would be a piece of cake. We applied online, and when we finished it said we would be contacted within a few days. After what seemed to be a successful attempt, we went on with life. In the business of life a...

Paranoia
The Synopsis of Psychiatry defines paranoia as “extreme suspiciousness, usually not based on a realistic assessment of the situation…[including] a perceived community of plotters.” Some paranoids suffer from delusions of grandeur: the conspirators are after him because he is so special. We see paranoia frequently, but may not recognize it or realize how crazy it is. (I realize that this is...

Toms Shoes
I saw this on “The Entrepreneurs” on CNBC last night. One for One. For every pair of shoes Tom sells, he gives a pair to a child in need. No really. He hand delivers them directly to the child’s feet. www.tomsshoes.com Very cool.

Alternate Row Shading In Excel
This is a simple one, but a good one. 1. Select the range that you want to format 2. Choose Format, Conditional Formatting 3. In the Conditional Formatting dialog box, select Formula Is from the drop-down list, and enter this formula: =MOD(ROW(),2)=0 4. Click the Format button, select the Patterns tab, and specify a color for the shaded rows. 5. Click OK twice to...

Linksys USB Wireless N Adapter
I put one of these on a mobile computer in my company’s warehouse recently and found it was having troubles staying connected, even though signal was between 80-100%.  What I found was that when using the included software to connect to a network it would disconnect each time someone logged on or off.  The Linksys wireless software process was getting killed each log off/on, eventually...
